Eastern flank of MAA Flyover to close from tonight for repair work, alternate routes announced
Air India has launched in-flight Wi-Fi services on both domestic and international flights, beginning January 1, 2025. This service is now available on all flights operated by the airline's Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft. As part of the introduction, Wi-Fi will be available to all passengers at no additional cost for a limited period. Air India is the first Indian airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic routes, allowing passengers to stay connected throughout their flight.
The in-flight Wi-Fi can be accessed on Wi-Fi-enabled devices, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets with iOS or Android operating systems. Once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet, passengers can connect multiple devices simultaneously. The Wi-Fi service will enable travelers to browse the internet, access social media, catch up on work, or send messages to friends and family during the flight.
Previously, Air India tested this Wi-Fi service on select international routes operated by its Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and Airbus A321neo aircraft. These international routes included destinations such as New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. The service will now be extended to Air India’s domestic network, marking the airline as the first to provide such a service within India. The Wi-Fi service is available on a range of domestic and international flights, including major connections within the country and key international hubs.
To access the Wi-Fi service, passengers must enable Wi-Fi on their devices and select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network. They will then be redirected to the Air India portal in the default web browser, where they will need to enter their PNR and last name to access the service. Air India’s in-flight Wi-Fi service is expected to be available on more aircraft in the airline’s fleet over time. The airline has committed to extending this connectivity to additional aircraft and expanding its availability as part of an ongoing rollout.
The availability of in-flight Wi-Fi is dependent on various factors, including satellite connectivity, bandwidth usage, air traffic routes, and government regulations. While the service is being offered free of charge during the introductory period, further details on any potential charges or future pricing will be made available later. Air India plans to gradually expand its fleet of Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft to meet growing demand.
